Organized entryway ideas: Solving the shoe situation!

I am currently working with a busy mom of 3 kids and one of the biggest struggles is shoes...the shoes are always everywhere and nobody can find the ones they need when they need them for all their various activities.

In coming up with a solution for her particular family situation, I started doing some research to see what was out there and I wanted to share some ideas. In this case, they usually come in through the garage and the backpacks and shoes and papers and gear, etc. end up by the door and on the table so she needed a solution for all of this clutter. This is what she decided on:

This will work perfectly for her family, but these are available in tons of different shapes, sizes, colors and prices depending on each individual situation. Check out my Pinterest Board for some more ideas too.

Simple Shoe Bench: when you just want a simple solution that doesn't take up too much space, there are tons of options for little benches with shoe racks.

Coat Rack: If you go this route, you can get a coat rack for coats, purses, etc. and some even have a place for umbrellas and/or keys, wallets, sunglasses and such.

Hidden Shoe Cabinet: I had no idea these existed, but these are great for entryways.

I know when my kids were little, I just used a basket by the door for the shoes. And I usually had a hook in the kids' rooms where they kept their backpacks and coats so it wasn't out in the main room. So if you don't want to spend a lot of money, a couple hooks and bins can do the job. At least everything will have a place, and you can work on the aesthetics as you have time!

As my kids have grown up, I don't have shoe issues anymore, but I do still like my entryway to be practical with a good bench and key bowl. My style is very colorful and bohemian, but there are so many benches out there so you can create your own look for your entryway! I hope this inspires everyone to get organized and have fun with it 🌞
